Some of the invisible victims of the Greek financial crisis and the austerity measures are the irregular migrants and asylum seekers that keep reaching the Greek capital, Athens. The global irregular migration and asylum seeking flows are not disturbed by the small ‘parenthesis’ of the Greek crisis. After all people come from much more dangerous and destitute places. The problem however remains acute as NGOs providing food, shelter and medical assistance are overwhelmed. The arrivals include a lot of young children and women.
